My Story

My journey as an author began back in the summer of 1987 when my parents gave me a Brother electronic typewriter for my 6th grade graduation present. This provided me my first outlet to become a movie director—my dream at the time—by allowing me the opportunity to take the stories that had been swimming around in my head and on random pieces of paper, and to finally begin writing. I spent that entire summer writing movie scripts.

By the time I was in high school, I’d moved on from my movie director dream and began to contemplate my calling as a pastor. I also discovered poetry in that season. It was in my sophomore English class that I began embracing writing as a means of clearing my head and organizing my thoughts. In fact, it was in that same class that I wrote the poem, “April,” which would be published over 20 years later in my first book, a collection of poems, titled, Shadowlands to the Songs of Seraphim.

Flash forward several decades to 2013, which was both the year I was ordained as a pastor at Wildwood Calvary Chapel in Yucaipa, CA, and also the year I finally published my first book. I emphasize the word finally. The year before I had finished my two decades of tinkering on my poetry book.

I continued to write, publishing Check Yourself Before Your Wreck Yourself in 2016, and Don’t Worry About a Thing in 2019. In those years, I also began writing a weekly newspaper column, “Walking in Wisdom,” for the Yucaipa News Mirror.

Then in 2020 the COViD-19 pandemic hit and I knew I had to write a book that would inspire people to be thankful for all their blessings and to walk in a mindset of victory, not defeat. The result in 2021 was my fourth book, Attitude is Everything, which has been my most well-received book so far!

I’m currently working on two other book projects, but I’m going to keep those secret for now!

About Me

I earned my undergraduate degree from Cal State Fullerton in Political Science and I have a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Redlands.

I also love to travel, which has led me to 30 states and 16 countries where I've had the opportunity to speak about God's Word and to share His love with others.

The best part though is that I get to share life and ministry with my lovely wife, Juanita, and our two children: Skylar and Maksim.
